The holidays are pretty much over for the most part! Thank goodness. While I enjoy spending time with my family, it just seems that during this time of year, everything is moving on fast-forward. A little break for relaxation before school starts up again is going to be nice.
Christmas was a blast. It was awesome to see everyone again, and much fun was had, with tons of good food. (Tons. Seriously. I don’t know why there was so much food, but there was.) It was traditional for the most part- going to my Granny’s to open presents from the extended family and eat little snack foods on Christmas Eve. The only thing that was weird to me was that Pops was missing. It’s everyone’s first Christmas without him here, but it was still a great time.
So, get anything good for Christmas? I didn’t ask for much, but I got a few things:
1. A new sewing machine.
2. iPod Touch. This one really surprised me. TOTALLY not expecting that!
3. A dress that was super on sale from Anthropologie. (There is absolutely no way that any sane person would pay full price for anything they have.)
4. Some dishes (creamer, sugar bowl, a pair of glasses, salad/dessert plates) from Anthropologie. Also super on sale.
5. A gorgeous navy sweaterdress from J. Crew. This was my gift to myself. I found it on eBay, and it was about a third of the original price. eBay is truly an amazing thing.
6. Lots of dishes that my mom doesn’t use anymore. This included things like a hand mixer, a small crock pot, salsa dish, and a few tiny baking dishes. When my roommate moved out a few weeks ago, I was left without some of the things I needed (i.e. the crock pot and hand mixer), but everything else is a nice little treat, considering that I love to cook and bake.
I can’t say that I’ve been working out a lot, or even at all. With Christmas and lots of family get-together time, I haven’t really had much of a chance. But I promise today I will for sure.
I’ve been reading and watching stories in the news about all of the after-Christmas shopping madness. Honestly people, do you need more junk? I can understand if someone got giftcards and they want to use them on things that are marked down a lot, but most of the people out there are just buying more crap. Believe me, I used to work at Bath and Body Works, and it was truly terrifying to watch some of these people shop. Women were stealing things out of other people’s carrier bags, and were loading up on crap that would never be used. I can tell you that it would never be used, because the sheer amount of soap and lotion that was purchased could have lasted a family for years.
Absurd.
But I’m proud of myself. I haven’t gone out to buy anything. Not that I really would have anyway, since the stores are a mess right now and I can’t stand being out in huge crowds.
My dad, brother, and cousin went on a snowboarding trip. Unfortunately, my brother called and said everything was extremely iced over, and they only way to reach the trails was to have 4WD, or have chains. Bummer, considering that it’s a pretty long drive to New Mexico, and they didn’t even get to snowboard for a little while.
At least they got to see some pretty scenery though! Oh, and some snow.
